About sidelined.ch
One place to see which National League players are unavailable, why, and for how long, with a link to where each piece of information comes from.
The listing is in preview and opens this season. Follow the channel to hear when it launches.
Where the data comes from
- Club medical reports. EV Zug, EHC Kloten, HC Lugano, Lausanne HC, SC Bern, ZSC Lions and HC Ambrì-Piotta publish a list of unavailable players. We read those pages every 30 minutes.
- Club news. EHC Biel-Bienne, Genève-Servette HC, HC Ajoie, SCRJ Lakers, HC Davos and Fribourg-Gottéron announce absences in news articles. An AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) reads new articles and extracts who is unavailable. We check its accuracy against a hand-labelled set of articles before every change.
- SCL Tigers. The club's medical report is entered by hand for now.
- National League disciplinary news. Provisional suspensions and bans from the league's disciplinary decisions. Bans are counted in games, so we show the date of the game the player is eligible again, based on the schedule.
- SIHF lineup sheets. Before each game, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation's lineup sheet lists who is out and why (injured, ill, suspended, with the farm team). We read it once the lineup is published and once after puck drop. Players it lists as surplus (“überzählig”) are fit: we show them apart as healthy scratches, not in the counts, until their next game. An import left out while six imports are dressed is marked “Import limit”.
- SIHF game data. When a listed player is dressed for a game, we mark him as back. And when a regular hasn't been dressed for two games in a row and no source explains it, we list him as “Not in lineup”, reason unknown. That can also be a coach's decision; we never guess the reason.
How to read an entry
- The reason and the downtime are shown as the club wrote them, in the club's language.
- “Expected back …” is our reading of that wording (e.g. “mi-novembre” → 10–20 Nov). It's an estimate, not a club statement.
- “Since” is a date the club published. “Reported” is the date of the news article. “Listed since” is when we first saw the entry, for clubs that publish no dates.
- An empty team list means the club currently reports nobody. It doesn't guarantee everyone is fit.
Privacy and corrections
We only show what clubs have published themselves, and never add medical details of our own. If something is wrong, out of date, or you want an entry removed, write to bot@sidelined.ch. We act on removal requests within 24 hours.
