How to recognise it

Every request carries this user agent:

sidelined.ch bot (+https://sidelined.ch/bot)

What it fetches

• Each club's public medical report page: one page per club, at most every 30 minutes.
• Public game and schedule data from the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation: a few requests per game.
• The SIHF team lineup sheet (PDF) of each game: at most twice per game, once the lineup is out and once after puck drop.

Nothing else. It doesn't follow links, crawl sites, log in, or download images and scripts.

How it behaves

• Conditional requests (If-None-Match / If-Modified-Since), so an unchanged page costs almost nothing.
• Every source is checked against its robots.txt before we add it. We don't get around access controls; a page that blocks us isn't fetched.
• One exception: the SIHF lineup sheet sits under /umbraco/, which sihf.ch's robots.txt disallows. It is the only place SIHF still lists each team's absentees. We have told SIHF, fetch it as described above, and stop for good if SIHF objects or the site answers 403.
• When a page errors, the bot backs off: 30 minutes, then 1 hour, 2 hours, … up to 12 hours.
• Content of sites that opt out of AI crawlers is never sent to a language model.

Opting out or getting in touch

Write to bot@sidelined.ch. We stop fetching your site and remove any entries based on it within 24 hours. If you'd rather allow the bot through a firewall rule, we're happy to send a secret header with every request, so the rule can't be abused.
